Pr. Elena Castro, M.D., PhD

Elena Castro is a Consultant Medical Oncologist and researcher in prostate cancer at Hospital 12 de Octubre in Madrid.

Dr Castro obtained a medical degree and a PhD from the University of Salamanca, Spain. After training in Medical Oncology, she completed a fellowship in cancer genetics and prostate cancer at the Institute of Cancer Research and The Royal Marsden Hospital, in London, UK.

In 2013, she moved back to Spain and joined the Prostate Cancer Clinical Research Unit at the Spanish National Cancer Research Center.

Dr Castro is a translational researcher whose interest span preclinical studies to clinical trials. Her work has addressed the clinical implications of genetic and genomic variants in prostate cancer.

Over her career, Dr Castro has been the recipient of multiple awards to support her research and has published numerous articles in major journals of her field of expertise.

Dr Castro been involved in several clinical trials investigating new treatment strategies for patients with prostate cancer.
