HPV-Induced Cancers Scientific Advisory Committee

Anna R. Giuliano, PhD, is the founding Director of the Center for Immunization and Infection Research in Cancer at the Moffitt Cancer Center, and in November 2024, President of the International Papillomavirus Society (IPVS).

Dr Giuliano’s research focuses on cervical cancer screening and prevention, anal and penile HPV natural history, and head and neck cancer etiology, prevention, and early detection.
She has led several large cancer epidemiology and prevention studies conducted among diverse populations in the United States and abroad for decades.
Her research has contributed significantly to our understanding of HPV infection natural history, the proportion of infections that progress to disease, and importantly to HPV vaccine protection against multiple diseases in women and men. She continues to lead multiple funded HPV-related clinical trials and studies in Latin America and Sub-Saharan Africa.
In 2013, Dr Giuliano received the American Cancer Society (ACS) Distinguished Achievement in Cancer Award, in 2018 and 2023 she was selected for the ACS Clinical Research Professor Award, and in 2019 she received the Joseph F. Fraumeni, Jr., Distinguished Achievement Award from the American Society of Preventive Oncology.
In 2011 and 2022 Dr Giuliano was chosen twice as Moffit Cancer Center’s Researcher of the Year.
Dr Giuliano has authored >500 peer-reviewed publications.
